Align to and sight target (square – inside / outside shoulder? – and focused on the hip)

Inside foot up prevents turning hips/shoulders inside (look with head only, not body)

Body in dynamic position, arms in ready position (like a wrestler)

Close space fast, shorten steps when close to ball carrier

Drop butt slightly (do not bend at the waist), on balls of feet to move and adjust to target (tracking)

Inside foot close (hoola hoop)

Head to side or rear, keeping arms short and powerful

Shoulder contact first

Wrap tightly, and either …

… drive off inside foot, step with outside foot to finish the drive, either back or to the side

… accept forward momentum of ball carrier, falling backwards

Twist in contact to end up on top, hold to complete tackle

Use momentum to bounce back up and contest the ball or roll away
